Lesson Plan Title : Picture Vocabulary Review
Age Range: Kindergarten through Grade 2 (Early Elementary or Primary Level)
Overview and Purpose : This lesson will help your students learn their vocabulary words through word association.
Objective: The student will be able to make a study book by drawing pictures that match the vocabulary words that are listed.
Resources:
Paper - cut into squares or rectangles
Stapler
Crayons or markers
Pencils
Activities:
Give each student one piece of paper for each vocabulary word. Have the students write the word on one side and then draw a picture under it of what the word means. On the other side, they can write the definition. When they are finished, staple the book together. They can review the words by looking at the pictures and check themselves by looking at the definition on the back. Students can also switch books and review the words by looking at each other's pictures.
Closure:
Make a class book of all the vocabulary words you study through the year. Have one student create a page for each word. The students can decide how they want to use the dividers to break the book into sections. Encourage them to use the book to find new words to use when they are writing.
