Lesson Plan Title : Rap, Rhyme, Jingle
Age Range: Grade 9 through Grade 12 (High School Level)
Overview and Purpose : This lesson will allow students, who may otherwise be silent in the classroom, to come out of their shells and participate in making some silly rhymes with vocabulary words.
Objective: The student will be able to create a rap, jingle, or rhyme that describes a vocabulary word.
Resources:
None needed
Activities:
Divide the students into trios or quads. Assign them a vocabulary word and have them work together to create a rap, rhyme, or jingle that describes the word. Have each group present their piece to the class. Ideas can include a jump rope rhyme, words set to a familiar advertising jingle or rap song, or a poetry piece.
Closure:
This is an opportunity for students to loosen up and be creative. You may want to record each piece on video and make a copy for each student.
