Lesson Plan Title : Power Point Vocabulary

Age Range: Grade 9 through Grade 12 (High School Level)

Overview and Purpose : This lesson allows students to collaborate and create an eclectic collection of vocabulary slides to present to the class.

Objective: The student will be able to create a Power Point slide to help him remember the meaning of a vocabulary word.

Resources:

Computer access for each group of students

Activities:

Divide the class into pairs or trios. Assign each group a vocabulary word and have them design a Power Point slide to help others remember the meaning of the word. Have them design the slide so the word comes up at the end. This way the students reviewing the slideshow for practice can check if they have the correct word.

Put all the slides together into a slideshow and play it for the class. Have the slideshow repeat on one of the computers in the classroom. This will help the students review the words during the week.

Closure:

As a homework assignment, you could have each student make a short power point presentation, with their own personal pictures (vacation, around the house, nature, silly, etc.), using vocabulary words to tell a story. Have them present their stories to the class.
