Lesson Plan Title : Making a Class Book

Age Range: Kindergarten through Grade 2 (Elementary Level)

Overview and Purpose : Students will cherish the memories of their school days for years to come, after this class project!

Objective: The student will be able to work with the other students to create a class book that uses repetition.

Resources:

Chart paper

Chart markers

Props for the story created

Activities:

Read Brown Bear, Brown Bear or another repetitive book. Talk with students about how to create a story using repetition. Have the students help you make a story on chart paper. Give them a starter phrase and have them take turns completing the sentence.

After the story is complete, have the students work in pairs to illustrate one of the sentences. Bind the papers together to make a class book.

Closure:

If you have a digital camera, you could take one picture of each student (print them all out on one sheet) and create an author's page.
