Lesson Plan Title : Alphabet Round-Up

Age Range: Kindergarten through Grade 2 (Elementary Level)

Overview and Purpose : Most kids are familiar with Alpha-bits cereal. In this lesson, students actually get to play with their food, while learning to spell. Spelling never tasted so good!

Objective: The student will be able to create words out of Alpha-bits cereal.

Resources:

Box of Alpha-bits cereal

Activities:

Give each student a scoop of cereal and have them create as many words as they can. Review the words as a class and make sure the students have spelled them correctly. Add any words that have difficult spelling to the word wall. When the lesson is over, the students may eat the cereal.

Closure:

Serving another snack beforehand (graham crackers, raisins, animal crackers, etc.), may keep your students from eating the class project too soon!
