Lesson Plan Title : Mirroring Verbs
Age Range: Kindergarten through Grade 2 (Elementary Level)
Overview and Purpose : Get ready for Mime Time! Students will take turns pantomiming verbs in the following lesson. Can their "mirror" keep up?
Objective: The student will be able to mirror another student's actions as the student demonstrates different verbs.
Resources:
None needed
Activities:
Have students choose a partner and decide which one of them will be the mirror. The other student then begins acting out a verb and the student who is the mirror must follow him. Encourage the students to go slow enough that their mirrors can keep up and encourage the mirrors to try to anticipate what is coming next. After a few minutes, have the students switch roles.
Talk about the different verbs that were chosen. Write them on a piece of chart paper. Look at any actions that had a verb in them and talk about them (i.e. I stuck out my tongue.)
Closure:
For some added encouragement, you could turn on some upbeat music. Students can have fun mirroring each other's dance moves!
