Lesson Plan Title : Is It Who or Whom?

Age Range: Grade 9 through grade 12 (High School Level)

Overview and Purpose : In this lesson, the students become the teachers. They work together in small groups to find ways to help others remember when to use 'who' and 'whom'.

Objective: The student will be able to explain to other students when they should use 'who' and when they should use 'whom' in their writing.

Activities:

Remembering when to use 'who' and 'whom' in a sentence can be difficult. Divide the class into groups of three. Have them work together to create a way that makes it easier to remember which word to use. Suggestions can include a rap, a skit, or a Power Point presentation. Encourage the students to be creative. Have each group teach the rest of the class the method they developed.

Closure:

This lesson can also be done individually. Have each student create a mnemonic tool that they can use to help them remember.
