Bean Bag Nouns - The following lesson incorporates movement with learning. Students strive to remember and name the different types of nouns depending on which space their bean bag lands on.
Comma Craziness - Commas can be very difficult to use correctly. Many people do not use enough of them and, occasionally, some people use too many. This exercise will help your students as they compete to see who has the most commas placed correctly.
Compound Word Train - What do you get when you combine the words "box" and "car"? A compound word train, of course! Students will work together to create compound words by using the boxcars they have made.

Is It Who or Whom? - The student will be able to explain to other students when they should use 'who' and when they should use 'whom' in their writing.

Passive Words - Passives sentences and the use of tense.
Plural Nouns Game - The purpose of the game is after each student rolls the dice he or she will change the singular noun to a plural noun and use it in a complete sentence.
Present Progressive - The student will understand the correct use of the present progressive grammar pattern.
Pronoun Hunt - The student will be able to highlight all the pronouns in a newspaper article.
Proofreading Practice - The student will be able to find all the words that sound the same as the word that was meant, but are spelled differently.
Run-on Sentences - The student will be able to break a run-on sentence into smaller sentences.
Tinker Toy Diagrams - Diagramming sentences has just become fun! Students use Tinker Toys to help them diagram sentences.

Colorful Parts of Speech- To help students learn the functions of words within a sentence, we Language Arts teachers were often encouraged to teach them how to diagram.

Homonyms- To understand the concept of homonyms and be able to pick them out in a sentence.
Noun Scattegories- This is a great review of nouns.
Showcase of Language- Upon being presented with a sentence, the student will use the appropriate punctuation with 90% accuracy.
Subject and Predicate Puzzle- Split the class into two groups. Have one group write only a complete subject on its card/paper. The other group writes only a complete predicate only on its card/paper.
Verb practice & review- I had a friend make a bunch of small wooden dice for me, but instead of using dots, I wrote different pronouns on each side.
Which Witch is Which?- This activity is based on practicing homonyms.
