Lesson Plan Title : Planting Time
Age Range: Grade 9 through grade 12 (High School)
Overview and Purpose: Spring is commonly thought of as planting time. In this activity, students search the Internet to find information about the various crops that are planted across the United States.
Objective: The student will be able to complete a chart showing where various crops are planted across the United States.

Activities:
Have students brainstorm about what crops they think are grown in the different regions of the United States. Have them work together or individually to complete the worksheet listing the various crops that are grown in this country.

Wrap Up:
Students could also create a map showing this information. They could use different symbols or colors for the different crops. The activity could be extended by having the students choose a crop and research it in depth. They could examine the climate and soil needed to grow the crop, as well as, the products produced from it.
