Lesson Plan Title : Skeleton Race
Age Range: Grade 6 through grade 8 (Middle School)
Overview and Purpose: In this review game, students have to be the first team to complete their skeleton. They earn bones by answering questions about the subject being studied and can make their skeleton if they are able to name the different bones.
Objective: The student will be able to
*answer general questions about the subject being studied.
*name the major bones in the body.
Resources:
2 paper skeletons that have been taken apart and each skeleton placed in a basket or bag
Activities:
This is a good review game to use before a test. Divide the class into two teams. Ask a student on the first team a question. If he/she answers it correctly, he/she gets to take a bone from the basket without looking. If he/she can name the bone, then he/she can use it to make her/his team's skeleton. If he/she cannot name the bone, then it gets put to the side in the 'bone pile'. Then it is the other team's turn.
When a player from the first team answers a second question correctly, he/she can choose to draw another bone or name any bone in the bone pile. If he/she names the bone he chooses, then he/she can use it to continue making the skeleton. Play continues until one team has a complete skeleton.
Wrap Up:
This game can be used to review any subject. Paper skeletons can often be found at discount stores, party stores, or Halloween specialty stores.
