Lesson Plan Title : Fall Around the World
Age Range: Grade 6 through grade 8 (Middle School)
Overview and Purpose: We know what fall is like in our hometown, but what is it like halfway around the world? Students use the internet to research what fall is like in other countries and share that data with their classmates.
Objective: The student will be able to research the climate during September, October, and November in countries around the world.
Resources:
Teacher created worksheet
Internet access for each pair of students
Chart paper
Activities:
Have one piece of chart paper for several different cities around the world. Ask students to write on the sheets what they think the weather is like in those cities during the fall months. Divide the students into pairs and have them complete the worksheet by researching the answers on the internet. Come back together and have them correct any errors on the chart paper and list any new information they found.

2. How much rain did they get last year during November? | |||||
3. What kind of clothing would you need to pack if you were visiting in October? |
Wrap Up:
If this lesson is done during the fall, students can view satellite maps in each city on weather.com. This activity can be extended by having students choose one of the cities and write a narrative about what it would be like to visit that city during the fall. Have them describe what they would see, smell, and wear.
