Lesson Plan Title : Planning a Christmas Brunch
Age Range: Grade 3 through grade 5 (Elementary)
Overview and Purpose: This is a fun math activity that most of the students will be able to relate to. They may not have planned a brunch before, but they have most likely eaten one.
Objective: The student will be able to use grocery ads to plan a Christmas brunch for four people.

Teacher created worksheet
Activities:
Explain to the students that they are going to work in pairs to plan a Christmas brunch for four people. They will have a budget of $25 and they can use the worksheet to help them budget. List on the worksheet any items that they must include (i.e. meat, fruit, etc.) When they are finished they can draw a picture of their meal.

Wrap Up:
If it is practical, plan a class brunch with the students. Have each student bring in one item or set a budget and have the students look through current ads to meet the budget.
